Survey and consultancy services

Every report is written for the decision-maker who has to rely on it — for example, the underwriter settling a claim, the P&I club accepting an entry, or the owner deciding whether to take delivery.

Hull & Machinery Casualty Surveys

Attendance following damage, machinery breakdown, grounding, or contact, on behalf of underwriters, P&I interests, or owners. We establish the extent of damage, investigate the probable cause, define a reasonable repair scope, and assess repair costs against quoted yard prices. Facts, findings, and professional opinions are clearly distinguished, producing a robust, evidence-based report suitable for claims adjustment, negotiation, and, where required, dispute resolution.

P&I Condition & Pre-Entry Surveys

Condition and pre-entry surveys for clubs and their correspondents, covering structure, hatch covers and closing appliances, machinery, cargo gear, and safety equipment. Deficiencies are graded with recommended rectification timescales the club can attach to entry terms. Hatch cover weathertightness including ultrasonic testing is carried out where instructed.

Newbuilding & Conversion Supervision

Independent owner's representation throughout construction, from machinery installation and outfitting through commissioning, trials, and delivery. We provide milestone inspections, attend class and trial events, identify non-conformities, and drive punch-list close-out. Reporting is tailored to the project programme and the information requirements of owners, lenders, and financiers.

Pre-Purchase, MWS & Towage Approval

Pre-purchase and condition inspections for buyers and charterers, alongside Marine Warranty Survey services covering towage, load-out, and voyage suitability. We provide a decision-grade assessment of the vessel or operation — what is actually there, what it will cost to put right, and what conditions should be met before proceeding.

Elonys López, founder of N&N Marine Consultants.

About the surveyor

Elonys López is an independent marine surveyor and consultant based in South Korea, attending vessels throughout the Asia-Pacific region. His background is filled with hands-on engineering — time spent in machinery spaces, shipyards, and on building berths. This provides the practical understanding needed not only to identify a defect, but to explain how and why it occurred.

Independence matters: the practice does not broker vessels, sell equipment, or undertake the repairs it recommends. Its sole product is accurate, evidence-based reports — providing the independent technical assessment an underwriter needs to settle a claim, a P&I club needs to set entry conditions, or an owner needs when deciding whether to take delivery.
